The handling of research data must already be considered in the planning phase of a research project. The focus should at least be on aspects relating to data collection, analysis, and publication. However, responsibilities, legal aspects and technical details should also be clarified beforehand. The more thoroughly a research project is thought through and outlined in the planning phase, the more successful a project proposal will be and the more efficiently the project can be implemented.
