Reusing data

Reuse of research data forms the basis for scientific knowledge generation and innovation. By making research data accessible to other scientists, it can be analyzed and interpreted in new contexts. This leads to a better understanding of research results and is resource-efficient.

Published research data should of course also be findable, so that they can be made available for subsequent use. Repositories usually offer search masks in which the archived research data can be searched. The metadata of these data can also be made available via appropriate interfaces (OAI-MPH), so that they can be fetched ("harvested") from appropriate data portals (e.g., Open Aire) and then found via relevant search engines.
