Services

For research data management the following law texts are particularly relevant: copyright and related laws regulating intellectual property rights, service and labor law, the Research Organization Act, data protection law, and additionally the guidelines of good scientific practice. Research Management and Service

The services of the Research Management and Services department are available to all researchers at the University of Graz. Depending on the project and its progress, we offer our expertise to implement your idea and your research and transfer project. This includes support during the application process – project planning, project calculation, legal matters, formalities and also contract negotiation and drafting.

Data Protection

Where personal data are processed within the context of research projects the principles and requirements resulting from the legal provisions - in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Federal Act concerning the Protection of Personal Data (DSG), and Research Organisation Act (FOG) - have to be considered. Where personal data are archived, proper anonymisation / pseudonymisation of the data must be ensured. 

More information on the distinction between personal, pseudonymised and anonymised data can be found in FAQs No. 20 - 22 on the intranet.

For advice on data protection issues, please contact the staff members responsible for data protection issues in the Research Management and Service Department for externally funded projects or the Legal and Organizational Department for all other research projects.
