Once research data is deposited in a repository, it can be published and actively shared with the research community. If this data is part of a scientific publication, the information spreads with its publication. However, research data repositories also feed their content into library catalogs or metasearch engines. The best way to make the data known, however, still is to promote it among colleagues or to give relevant presentations at workshops or conferences.
